The Distributed (or Desktop) Management Task Force (DMTF) is sponsoring a live webinar to discuss the recently announced SMBIOS 3.0 specification.  The webinar is Wednesday, March 11 at 11:00 AM U.S. Central Time (UTC-06:00).  Version 3.0.0 of the SMBIOS spec was released on 12 February 2015.

Recall from an earlier blog post that the DMTF, the organization that oversees the SMBIOS specification (among others), hosts webinars live, and then makes then available for on-demand viewing.  The SMBIOS 3.0 webinar in going to be the latest in this series.

Presenter: SMBIOS Working Group Co-Chairs, Richard Chan and Kimon Berlin

The latest release of the premier standard for delivering management information via system firmware, System Management BIOS (SMBIOS) Reference Specification, Version 3, extends support for 64-bit architecture systems. We will review each of the changes with the focus on the new 64-bit support for accessing SMBIOS data. Since its release in 1995, the widely implemented SMBIOS standard has simplified the management of more than two billion client and server systems.
